ID-New’s May issue has its focus on “interfaces“.
We will introduce you to the new interfaces between
METUS® and SAP PLM and also to the extension of our
interface to Teamcenter. Both were presented on the
Hannover Messe trade show 2010. In June 2010 we will
furthermore be able to present a preliminary version of the
integration of
METUS and CIM DATABASE. Learn more about the possiblities that
METUS® offers for developing product technology
roadmaps and about interesting events in the area of Product
Lifecycle Management.

METUS®-Software
and SAP PLM
A
fast market introduction of products requires a close fit
between concept phase and product development. The integration
of ID-Consult’s innovative software METUS® and SAP
PLM (SAP iPPE) closes this gap to further improve especially
the development of complex products and product
platforms.
The
interface was developed in partnership with msg systems ag in
Ismaning. With this integration product data can be exchanged
between SAP PLM an METUS®. Product architectures visualized
and optimized with METUS® can be enriched with requirements,
functions, planned modules, costs and supplier information.
The defined architectures can then be administrated
in SAP PLM directly.

Fresh
energy for Lean Development
With
Friedrich Mertens ID-Consult was able to have another expert
in the area of Lean Development joined the team of
ID-Consult. His deep expertise with Lean topics as
consultant and project manager for Daimler and MTU will
contribute to the optimization of product development
processes and set-up of efficient engineering systems.
His
focus is the implementation of lean projects (Lean Deployment)
as well as the introduction of lean approaches such as Value
Stream Mapping, Balanced Reviews (Design-Reviews vs.
Stage-Gate-Reviews), Set-based-Design, Lean Project Structure
and Chief Engineering approaches following the model of the
Toyota Development Systems.

2010
ID-Consult presented at Hannover Messe 2010 the new
version METUS® 5.0 with new visualizations,
functionalities and interfaces for efficiency improvement in
the early phase of product development. With integrated KPIs
like the degree of modularization or
standardization it is now possible to measure the quality
of a product platform with METUS®. Another milestone is the integration of
METUS® in the Product-Life-Cycle through the
extension of the interfaces with the PLM System Teamcenter and
SAP PLM.

Product
and technology Roadmapping with METUS®
With
the new roadmap functionality the flexible tool
METUS® was extended with another powerful
component. Development projects, products and technologies can
be planned, visualized and their dependencies can be shown.
Using the
METUS® connection technology the roadmap contents
can be connected easily by simple Drag&Drop for instance
with requirements, resources as well as file attachments and
detailed descriptions. Color codes and attributes allow
individual company specific structures of a
roadmap.
